If I were ever to come across my KTV-loving soul mate somewhere out in cyberspace, he’d probably have a KTV blog named after this Eason Chan classic, which translates to “King of KTV“. This song is a favorite among most of my male Taiwanese friends, very likely because it’s not very vocally challenging (quite low for most of the song), and because it’s fun to sing a song about expressing your feelings through KTV while you’re actually at KTV.

The video offers great cultural insights, too. For those who have never been to a KTV, you get a decent glimpse into a KTV room and can see how it differs from western-style karaoke. And if you do actually sing this at KTV, the video can feel a bit like a mirror, particular if you’ve got rowdy friends and no one ever pays attention to your singing. (For a KTV-lover, the end of this video is just about as heartbreaking as the ones where the girl dies!)

In terms of Chinese difficulty, the vocabulary could be considered high beginner, though the song gets more difficult at the end because the final lyrics are a bit sped up. Still, highly recommended for beginners to learn, especially if you’re a guy and want to hear all of your friends say “You know this song? Wow, you must really love KTV!”
